- One guy whose career I thought was over is Ross Ventrone. He has played parts of several seasons in New England, and most recently played for the Steelers for parts of last year. He would be primed to take over Troy Polamalu’s spot as the Pantene spokesman had he not left Pittsburgh, but he is no stranger to the Patriots.
- Ventrone has been signed, waived, released, signed to the practice squad, promoted, and released again by New England: Since 2011, Ventrone has appeared on the transaction ledger 30 times. Wall Street investment banks should name one of their high-speed trading algorithms after him.
- Maybe this will be the year the 29 year old signs with the Pats and stays. He is now on the New England practice squad, so a promotion to the active roster would make 31 transactions. He has 9 career solo tackles, with two assists.
